Why Cornhusker Driving School?
We are happy to administer the tests for individuals who are 14-17 years of age and have held the permit the required time. Our course can help you prepare and skip the DMV testing process. After completing our course, your assigned driving instructor will submit an ELECTRIC WAIVER to the DMV on your behalf, indicating that you've completed the necessary training. You'll still need to go to the DMV to pick up your POP or SP, but no further testing (aside from an eye test) will be required. Additionally, our course offers an insurance discount certificate upon completion, though it's important to check with your insurance provider to ensure they accept. Planning ahead is crucial to ensure eligibility for our course.

For students living outside our service area, a meeting spot will be arranged with the driving instructor. For the classroom portion student will need to have a ride.
-
All driving sessions must be completed within 90 days after the last day of the classroom sessions. It's important that students are prepared and committed to participate in the driving portion of the course after the classroom time.
-
What about the car and insurance for the driving portion of the course?
For the driving portion with us, they will be using our Cornhusker Driving School marked vehicles with a passenger side brake and they will be on our insurance when in our vehicle.
How long does the driving take to complete?
Students will need to finish the driving portion 90 days from the last day of class. We ask that you hold off on signing up if your student does not have the time to make the driving a priority or is not ready to get behind the wheel.
How much driving will the student be doing?
The driving instruction program offers up to 5 hours of instruction plus drive test, but the number of sessions may vary depending on the student's experience and ability to pass the drive test. The length of each session may also vary depending on the student's needs.
How can a student get prepared for the driving portion of the course?
Driving effectively is a joint effort between us and our students. We understand some may enroll last-minute expecting a quick finish, but mastering driving skills takes time and dedication. Remember, the hours spent behind the wheel are crucial for passing your driving test. We will focus on addressing any challenges you face and enhancing overall driving abilities.
It's essential to practice driving outside of our sessions. Just like any skill, improvement comes with practice. If you're not practicing at home, progress may be challenging. Keep in mind, driving is a lifelong skill. We encourage you to drive as frequently as possible to build confidence and proficiency.
How does the student schedule their driving and how does it work?
Instructors will schedule the first drive session with students during the classroom time and share their contact details. They aim to accommodate busy schedules, including weekends, after school, and evenings, subject to availability. For students within our area, we provide home pick-up and drop-off at home for the driving lessons. Students outside our area will arrange to meet at a designated spot (Plattsmonth, Valley, Springfield, Ashland, etc).

How soon should the student start the class?
Starting driving lessons at least 90 days prior to being eligible for the POP or SP is crucial to ensure that the student has enough time to complete the process. Rushing the process can lead to gaps in learning and lack of practice time, which can negatively impact the student's driving skills. Therefore, it is important to factor in multiple lessons and encourage the student to practice outside of the program.
